FIG GFA International Colloquium-2008 in Sigapore

Over 30 representatives from across the world have debated, shared and agreed on actions necessary for rightly positioning Gymnastics as a key provider of beneficial and health related activity for all.
The International Colloquium, Gymnastics: A way to a healthy life was held in Singapore from January 30th - 4th February and incorporated the presentation of the latest scientific research, strategies currently being carried out by National Federations and the opportunity to discuss and consider future actions.
The importance of Gymnastics for All and in particular the role the sport plays in the area of health and well-being was reflected in the representatives attending, which included the FIG's Dr. Michel Leglise, Mr Rainer Brechtken, President German Gymnastics Federation, Sin yin Cheung, President Hong Kong Gymnastics Federation, Catherine Clark, CEO New Zealand Gymnastics Federation said Mrs Margaret Ahlquist Sikkens, President FIG Gymnastics for All Committee. Gymnastics is a worldwide sport and it was important that we had representatives from all corners of the globe, said Mrs Ahlquist Sikkens.
With over 80 million people actively participating in the sport of Gymnastics, and with the majority within the area of Gymnastics for All, it is one of the world's largest sporting activities, providing enormous health and fitness benefits to citizens in all corners of the globe, regardless of their age, abilities, gender, or culture. The International Colloquium was just one of the major activities being implemented by the FIG to ensure further spread of the sport across the world.
