Mahmoud Mohammad Al Saadi showed great skills in boys'
junior category of the ongoing Friendly International Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics + Trampoline Championships taking place at the Aspire Dome. The meet was organized by Qatar Gymnastics Federation from 3-12 June 2008.
The 18-year-old Qatari scored a flawless 15.10 points in vault to take his tally to 82.25 after the first day competitions in six apparatus.
Thailand's Kaewpanya took silver with 70.35, Nasser Al Hamad of Qatar managed bronze (55.05) and Thailand's Sukdee Thitipong finished fourth(39.50).
Recently announced the best gymnast of 2007-2008 season, Al Saadi gathered 13.40 in floor, 13.60 in PH, 13.60 in rings, 15.10 in vault,13.55 in parallel bars, 13.00 in horizontal bars for gold.
"I am happy for my performance," said Al Saadi after the coronation ceremony.
Malek Al Yarhi claimed top honours in youth category with 69.20 points, ahead of Ahmad Al Romaihi (33.05) and Rashid Al Ali (13.75)all from Qatar.
In the girls' competition, visiting Kazakhstan claimed top spot in both youth and junior category.
Kazakhs Anna Geidt scored 52.90 overall in juniors, including 12.60 in vault, 12.15 in u. bars, 15.50 in beam, and 12.65 in floor.
Geidt was followed by compatriot Alina Kulignia with the total of 50.35. Qatar's Shaden Wohdan finished third with 46.45, Lojain Feki who competed in vault and floor scored 21.05 and Ghalia Al Habshi another Qatari girl who participated in beam (5.10) and floor (8.70).
In the youth girls' event, Kazakhstan's Karimi Bakhare won gold with 49.70, ahead of Ahlam Al Habshi of Qatar for silver and compatriot
Rahma Hamza gathered bronze.

The two-day championship has witnessed participation of boys and girls competing in youth and junior categories.

Alongside hosts Qatar, gymnasts from Kazakhstan and Thailand were also seen in action at the Aspire Dome.
